I have finally finished the heart I'm decorating for the Feed the Hungry, Heal the Heart fundraiser benefiting the Food Pantry at Calvary Episcopal.
Day 7: Decoupage. More waiting.....
Day 8
1st embellishment applied. What next?
And now, on Day 9 of AEDM, I present to you the final* version of my Heart: <Drum roll, please!>
And a couple of close-up detail shots:
* I say "final" cautiously because I have not quite yet developed my intuition to know when a piece is really "done". Knowing when to stop is a virtue I don't seen to have - at least not yet! But I'm pretty sure this is the final product as far as the decorating goes....
This morning I thought it might be fun to add a short poem or haiku to the back to tell a little story about the heart. I'm running a little low on creative juice today and haven't quite gotten what I really want, but here are a couple of my brainstorming creations:
1.
Broken heart
Scarred by loves lost -
Stitched with caution
and
Carefully mended
Reveals its beauty again . . .
Heart in Bloom
2.
Mended heart
Scarred by loves lost
Blooms again
3.
Heart
scarred by loves lost . . .
learns to bloom again
I'm not completely sold on any of these poems/haiku, but the 2nd one does summarize the story I had in mind for this piece. And of course, I need a title. Maybe "Heart in Bloom"?
I had no idea you were doing this! Thank you! It is such a great cause. Both your time and your talent are much appreciated.

Beautiful! Such detail...very great work! Love seeing the original plain heart and now it's all embellished!

WOW Your heart turned out wonderfully! I love the details and the contrast between the embellishments and the decoupage. I also like all three of the poems you wrote. The second one is my favorite!

Thanks Gail! I think I'll go with the 2nd poem....
